Introducing the new Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Frosted Gold
If, for Audemars Piguet’s Royal Oak family, 2016 heralded the return of that Seventies horological stalwart, yellow gold, and this year birthed its first ever black ceramic piece, then 2018 already belongs to another stylistic swerve, in the shimmering shape of the Frosted Gold 41mm.
Available in white gold with a blue “Grande Tapisserie” dial, it’s the mechanically-driven, masculine version of the 33mm and 37mm pieces launched to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the first ladies’ Royal Oak collection in 2016, the result of a collaboration between the Le Brassus manufacture and Florentine-born, London based jeweller Carolina Bucci, whose technique for hammering gold finds its first horological expression in the collection.
The hand-finishing used on the suitably named 'Frosted Gold' models ensures that each piece is, in effect, 'bespoke'.
But for those wishing to further that sense of individuality, AP has reintroduced a selection of Royal Oak cufflinks in stainless steel, pink or white gold.
